Privacy Policy — Luxwell
This Privacy Policy describes how Luxwell (the “App”) handles information when you use it on your iPhone. The App is designed for local-first light metering: your settings, calibration, camera presets, and shoot log stay on your device unless you choose to export or share them another way.
Summary
- Meter settings and shoot-log data — including calibration offset, presets, saved readings, and notes — are stored locally on your device, not on PaprikaTech servers.
- The camera is used on your device to estimate scene brightness. Live preview frames are not uploaded to PaprikaTech.
- We do not operate a cloud sync service that stores your EV readings, photos, or log notes on PaprikaTech systems.
- We use TelemetryDeck for limited, non-content analytics to improve the App — never your EV values, camera frames, or log text.
- Purchases are processed through Apple and validated via RevenueCat as described below.
1. Information stored on your device
Settings and preferences
- Information you configure in the App — such as appearance, readout units (EV, lux, or foot-candles), stop increment, calibration offset, and camera presets — is stored locally using Apple’s on-device storage.
- PaprikaTech does not sync this content to PaprikaTech servers.
Shoot log
- If you use Pro and save a reading, the App stores the timestamp, EV, shutter, aperture, ISO, and any note you add locally on your device (including SwiftData).
- These entries remain on your device unless you delete them, export and share them, or uninstall the App.
Camera used for metering
- When you allow camera access, the App uses the live camera stream on your device to estimate scene brightness and show a preview.
- Luxwell is a meter, not a photo library. The App does not upload camera frames, and PaprikaTech does not receive your photos or preview images.
2. What we do not collect or store
PaprikaTech does not maintain a server archive of your meter content, including:
- EV readings, shutter, aperture, or ISO values
- Camera frames or preview images
- Shoot-log notes
- Calibration offsets or camera presets
- Location data — the App does not request location permission
If you export a shoot log by the system share sheet, Messages, email, AirDrop, or another app, you control what leaves your device through those channels.
3. Information sent to third parties you use
Depending on how you use the App, the following services may apply:
- Apple (iOS, App Store, and system permissions such as camera)
- RevenueCat — if you purchase Luxwell Pro, RevenueCat processes purchase information to validate Pro access. See RevenueCat’s privacy policy.
- TelemetryDeck (see Section 4)
4. Analytics (TelemetryDeck)
We use TelemetryDeck, which is designed with a privacy-first approach, to collect aggregated usage signals so we can understand how the App is used and improve stability and features.
TelemetryDeck may use an anonymous, per-install identifier to distinguish sessions (not your name or meter readings).
Typical examples of what we track (not an exhaustive list):
- App launched
- Onboarding started, skipped, or completed (page index only)
- Meter session started
- Meter mode changed (reflected, incident, or spot — no EV values)
- Reading locked
- Sunny 16 opened
- Appearance changed (light, dark, or system)
- Paywall shown or dismissed (source only)
- Purchase started, completed, restored, or failed (source and success flag only)
- Pro tools opened (zone, calibration, log saved, export shared — no reading values)
What we do not intend to send via TelemetryDeck:
- EV, lux, or foot-candle values
- Shutter, aperture, or ISO
- Camera frames or photo content
- Shoot-log notes
- Location data
TelemetryDeck’s handling of data is also subject to TelemetryDeck’s privacy policy. We use this data for product improvement, not to sell your meter content.
5. Information you send to us voluntarily
If you contact support by email, you decide what to include. Support messages may contain device or app version details to help us troubleshoot. The in-app email template includes basic app and device details only — it never includes EV readings, photos, location data, or camera images. We use support correspondence only to respond and improve the product.
6. Permissions
The App may ask for permissions such as:
- Camera — to measure light for exposure readings and show a live preview
You can change camera permission in iOS Settings. Live metering will not work without camera access. The Sunny 16 calculator does not require the camera.
7. Children’s privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13 (or the age required in your region). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us at support@PaprikaTech.io.
8. Security
We rely on Apple’s platform security and on-device storage to protect your settings and shoot-log data on your phone. No method of storage is 100% secure; you are responsible for safeguarding your device and any logs you share.
9. International users
If you use the App outside the United States, your information may be processed on your device and by third parties (such as Apple, RevenueCat, and TelemetryDeck) under their own policies and locations.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised version with a new “Last updated” date. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated policy.
